Ramallah: Hussein Al-Sheikh, Deputy President of the State of Palestine and Deputy Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), held a phone call with Oman's Foreign Minister, Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al-Busaidi, to address the latest developments in the occupied Palestinian territories. The discussion primarily concentrated on the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip and the increasing violence in the West Bank. The Palestinian leadership strongly opposes these actions, including the continued attempts at forced displacement.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, Al-Sheikh emphasized the necessity of enhancing Arab and international efforts to capitalize on the growing momentum, with the aim of organizing an international peace conference in New York during the United Nations General Assembly session next September. This conference seeks to fulfill the aspirations of the Palestinian people for freedom and independence and to secure recognition of the State of Palestine by member states.
Al-Sheikh also conveyed his profound appreciation to Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said, the Omani government, and the people of Oman for their unwavering support for the Palestinian cause. Both parties reiterated the deep historical and brotherly ties between Palestine and Oman, highlighting the importance of ongoing coordination and consultation in regional and international platforms.
