Gaza: The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) has announced that approximately 260,000 children from the Gaza Strip have enrolled in its distance learning programs since January of this year.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, UNRWA shared in a post on the X platform that nearly 260,000 children have joined its distance learning initiative since the beginning of the year. The agency has also emphasized the ongoing efforts of its health teams, which are providing mental health and psychosocial support in the Middle and Khan Younis areas of Gaza.

UNRWA highlighted its role in assisting special cases referred from health centers and shelters, stating that since the ceasefire, its teams have addressed over 15,000 cases. These efforts have facilitated the return of thousands of displaced individuals to their residences and homes that were destroyed.

The new school year, which commenced on February 23 in the Gaza Strip, faces significant challenges due to the war waged by Israel on the region. It is reported that 95% of school and educational buildings have sustained damage, with 85% rendered non-functional due to total or partial destruction during the conflict.
