UNRWA Criticizes Israel for Restricting International Journalists’ Access to Gaza

Gaza: The Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), Philippe Lazzarini, stated that the Israeli occupation authorities' denial of entry to the Gaza Strip for international journalists since the beginning of the aggression constitutes a "ban on reporting the truth."

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, Lazzarini expressed his concerns in a post on the X platform, describing the restriction as unprecedented in any other conflict in modern history. He emphasized that the denial of access to international journalists hinders the reporting of truthful accounts from the region.

Lazzarini highlighted that the actions against journalists, particularly those from the international community, contribute to media disinformation and increase polarization. He stressed that such practices obscure the humanitarian situation in Gaza, preventing the global audience from understanding the reality on the ground.

In his call for action, Lazzarini urged for the removal of the restriction on international media outlets operating in the Gaza Strip. He advocated for international journalists to be permitted to work and report freely and independently from the area. Additionally, he called for support for Palestinian journalists, who continue their work despite the challenges and risks involved.
