UNRWA Chief: U.S.-Israeli ‘Gaza Humanitarian Foundation’ Brings Only Starvation and Gunfire

Gaza: The Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), Philippe Lazzarini, said on Tuesday that dozens of humanitarian organizations have called for an end to the so-called "Gaza Humanitarian Foundation" (GHF), run by the United States and Israel, saying it 'provides nothing but starvation and gunfire' to civilians in the Gaza Strip.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, Lazzarini expressed his concerns in a post on X, highlighting the dire consequences of the GHF scheme. He reported that since the initiative began, at least 500 starving individuals have been killed, and nearly 4,000 have been injured while struggling to obtain food.

Lazzarini further explained that the current system has drastically reduced the number of aid distribution points in Gaza from 400 to only four militarized sites. This reduction has severely impacted the ability of civilians to access essential resources.

Over 130 non-governmental organizations (NGOs) have united in a joint call to demand the restoration of a unified, UN-led humanitarian response in Gaza. The appeal emphasizes the importance of adhering to international humanitarian law standards and ensuring that UNRWA plays a central role in aid coordination and delivery.

The collaborative appeal by the NGOs seeks to return to a system that prioritizes coordinated and effective humanitarian aid, reinstating the principles of international humanitarian law in the process.
