New york: UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini on Friday acknowledged the UN General Assembly's decision to extend the Agency's mandate for three years.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, Lazzarini expressed his appreciation for the UNGA's overwhelming support as he shared his thoughts on social media platform X. He emphasized that the resolution demonstrates global solidarity with Palestine refugees and highlights the international community's obligation to address their humanitarian and developmental needs.
Lazzarini noted that while the vote is a positive step, it must be accompanied by a genuine commitment and adequate resources to ensure the mandate's objectives are met. He underscored the need for continued international support until a just and lasting resolution is achieved for the longstanding issues faced by Palestine refugees.
