New york: The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) resumed on Wednesday the general debate of the 80th session in New York.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, Spain's King Felipe VI addressed the assembly, focusing on the plight of Palestinian civilians and condemning Israel's actions, including the bombing of hospitals, schools, and shelters. King Felipe VI urged an immediate halt to the violence in Gaza and called for the Israeli government to adhere to international humanitarian law across Gaza and the West Bank.
King Felipe VI emphasized the urgent need for humanitarian aid to be delivered and for a ceasefire to be established with guarantees. He also insisted on the immediate release of all hostages. Stressing the importance of a viable two-state solution, he called on the international community to take responsibility for achieving a resolution that ensures the existence of two states.
He welcomed the growing international recognition of a Palestinian State, noting Spain's support for this movement as of May. King Felipe VI affirmed Spain's commitment to supporting efforts toward a just and lasting peace, grounded in international law and respect for human rights.
