UN Warns Gaza’s Humanitarian Crisis Worsening Amid Rising Shelter Shortages

Gaza city: The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) confirmed that the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip is deteriorating, with "Palestinians being killed and injured daily, and famine and malnutrition continuing to worsen."

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the UN office warned in a statement that there is a major shelter crisis. Meeting the current shelter needs of approximately 1.4 million people requires 3,500 trucks loaded with tents, plastic sheeting, and basic household supplies, not counting any future displacement that would increase needs.

The UN office also voiced alarm towards delivering such supplies, describing it a challenge due to ongoing restrictions.

The office called for facilitating relief and humanitarian aid, stressing the need to maintain the crossing leading to the north and Gaza City for the delivery of shelter materials.
