UN Security Council to Discuss Middle East and Palestine Issue in Open Session

New york: The United Nations Security Council is set to convene an open session on Monday focusing on the situation in the Middle East, particularly addressing the question of Palestine. This session aims to provide a platform for discussion on the ongoing issues in the region.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, Mohamed Khaled Khiari, the UN Assistant Secretary-General for Middle East, Asia, and the Pacific, is expected to present to the Council members the latest quarterly report by the UN Secretary-General. This report concerns the implementation of Resolution 2334, which was adopted on December 23, 2016. The resolution demands that Israel halt all settlement activities in the occupied Palestinian territory, including East Jerusalem.

After the open briefing, the Security Council members will hold a closed consultation session later in the day. This closed session will allow for further deliberation on the matter, providing an opportunity for the members to discuss and evaluate the situation more comprehensively.
