Gaza: A recent United Nations assessment has found that less than 5% of Gaza's agricultural land remains cultivable, due to widespread destruction and stringent movement restrictions. The report highlighted a worsening food production crisis, increasing the threat of famine in the besieged enclave.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, Beth Bechdol, Deputy Director-General of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), which conducted the assessment with the UN Satellite Centre, warned that the damage goes beyond infrastructure loss, representing a 'collapse of Gaza's agricultural food system and lifelines.'
