London: The Palestine Solidarity Campaign in the United Kingdom has gathered over 25,000 signatures demanding that Israel be barred from participating in international football competitions, citing its ongoing acts of genocide and apartheid against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip. According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the campaign's coordinator, Lewis Backon, delivered the petition to the Football Association headquarters at Wembley Stadium on Tuesday. Speaking outside the stadium, Backon stated that teams from a state responsible for genocide and apartheid should not be participating in international football competitions. He also urged the cancellation of the upcoming UEFA Europa League match between England's Aston Villa and Israel's Maccabi Tel Aviv, scheduled for Thursday.
