Qalqilya: The Israeli occupation forces launched a large-scale raid campaign in the town of Azzun, east of Qalqilya, at dawn on Tuesday, which resulted in the injury of two young men, the detention of dozens of young men, as well as searching and ransacking several homes.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, local sources reported that, at around 2:00 a.m., the occupation forces entered the town from the north with Eitan military vehicles, deploying infantry teams across several neighborhoods. The forces subsequently closed the town with military checkpoints, blocking all major entrances, and restricted movement through loudspeaker announcements.
The main northern entrance to Azzun has been closed with an iron gate for over a year and a half, exacerbating the town's isolation. The sources noted that during the raid, a young man was severely beaten before being detained, while another suffered a broken foot from an assault by the occupation soldiers and was treated by Red Crescent Society crews before being taken to Omar Al-Qasim Hospital with moderate injuries.
The raid also saw dozens of young men detained after soldiers raided their homes. WAFA's correspondent indicated that these raids were marked by vandalism, with the occupation forces deliberately damaging and destroying furniture. Additionally, NIS5,000 was reportedly stolen from one of the homes.
The forces moved towards the western area of the town, specifically Wadi Al-Ezba, where they raided a house under construction and detonated an explosive device next to it before retreating. In another incident, a family in Al-Muntar neighborhood was forcibly evacuated, and their home was converted into a military outpost for troop operations and interrogations.
After six hours, the occupation forces withdrew, leaving behind significant destruction and a community reeling from the night's events.
