Transparency International: We appreciate the Iraqi government’s measures to combat corruption

Transparency International praised the Iraqi government's measures in combating corruption over the past two years, commending the involvement of the Iraqi Integrity Commission for youth in confronting corruption. "We aim to establish the principle of transparency and strategy to protect public funds, improve integrity and build leadership in combating corruption," said Transparency International Vice President Katakandriana Ravitosson, during the inaguration of the second Arab Forum for Promoting Transparency and Good Governance, today, Tuesday, in the capital, Baghdad. She added, "Corruption in countries is a wake-up call for us to work on human rights, and the separation of powers is very important for the system of government to be strong," indicating that "the existing discourse to combat corruption in civil society organizations requires bringing everyone together for dialogue and discussion about these conflicts, and there are several countries that have received humanitarian aid, which required acce ss to better monitoring mechanisms." She praised the Iraqi efforts in combating corruption over the past two years. She continued: "During the three days, we will discuss several issues and we encourage breaking the silence barrier because fighting corruption is not easy, but we do not allow ourselves to fail in that."
