Bethlehem: Three Palestinians on Tuesday sustained injuries in a colonist attack to the east of Tuqu? town, southeast of the occupied West Bank city of Bethlehem, according to a local source. Taysir Abu Mufreh, the town mayor, reported that Israeli colonists assaulted defenseless civilians in the al-Mattal area, using pepper spray and attempting to steal their sheep.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the injured individuals were transported to a nearby clinic for treatment. The attack is part of a pattern of violence by colonists against Palestinians and their property in the West Bank, which often goes unpunished by Israeli authorities.
The violence perpetrated by colonists includes a range of actions such as property and mosque arsons, stone-throwing, uprooting of crops and olive trees, and attacks on vulnerable homes. This latest incident underscores the ongoing tensions in the region, where approximately 1 million Israeli colonists reside in colonies in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, an act considered a violation of international law.
