Post: The Organization of Islamic Cooperation Commends Palestinian Reform Progress

Brussels: The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has praised the significant progress made by the State of Palestine in implementing its reform agenda across institutional, administrative, and financial domains. The reforms have been achieved despite the challenges posed by escalating Israeli policies and attacks. Ambassador Taysir Dawas, Assistant Secretary-General for Palestinian and Jerusalem Affairs, delivered this message in a speech to European and international politicians in Brussels. The speech was delivered in the presence of Palestinian Prime Minister Dr. Mohammad Mustafa, European Union Commissioner Dubravka Šuica, and High Representative of the Union Kaya Kallas. The General Secretariat emphasized the importance of supporting the Palestinian National Authority to ensure the implementation of the two-state solution. According to Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, the General Secretariat highlighted the urgent need for the immediate and unconditional release of Palestinian tax revenues unlawfully withheld by Israeli authorities. The financial crisis resulting from these actions threatens the Palestinian National Authority's ability to fulfill its obligations and offer essential services, particularly in health, education, and social welfare sectors. The OIC called on international parties, partners, and donors to provide immediate financial support to Palestine, warning against the continuation of withholding Palestinian clearance funds. The organization reiterated its condemnation of Israel's targeting of UNRWA and ongoing settlement, annexation, forced displacement, and siege activities. The General Secretariat urged the international community to pressure Israel to begin the second phase of the peace plan as per Security Council Resolution No. 2803. This includes withdrawing from the Gaza Strip, opening crossings, and facilitating humanitarian aid. The Secretariat affirmed the unity of the Palestinian people and territory under the leadership of the State of Pa lestine's legitimate institutions. Ambassador Dawas represented the OIC Secretary-General at the Second High-Level Ministerial Meeting of the Ad Hoc Liaison Committee for Palestine (AHLC) in Brussels. The meeting, held on July 13-14, included broad participation from ministers, state representatives, institutions, and international and regional organizations. This followed a preparatory meeting of senior officials the previous day.
