Istanbul: Thousands of Turkish people protested here yesterday, denouncing Israeli attacks and blockade in Gaza. Organised by 15 civil society organisations, under the Support for Palestine Platform, the Be Hope for Gaza march, gathered participants at Beyazit Square, after the evening prayers, before marching towards the iconic Hagia Sophia Mosque.
According to Nam News Network, the protesters chanted slogans like "Murderer Israel, get out of Palestine," carried Palestinian flags, and held banners accusing Israel of starving Gaza and demanding accountability. The rally was marked by significant participation as demonstrators voiced their solidarity with the people in Gaza.
The protest came in light of recent reports from Gaza, where eleven new deaths due to starvation and malnutrition were recorded over the past 24 hours. This has brought the overall death toll of such cases since October 2023 to 212, including 98 children, according to authorities. The situation in Gaza remains a focal point of international concern, with protests like the one in Istanbul highlighting global demands for change.
