Bern: Seven wounded children from the Gaza Strip, accompanied by 27 family members, have arrived in Switzerland to receive medical care in Swiss hospitals. This initiative is part of a humanitarian operation organized by the Swiss Federal Government in collaboration with the World Health Organization and Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF). According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the Swiss Federal Department of Defense, Civil Protection and Sport released an official statement detailing that the children sustained serious injuries due to the ongoing conflict in Gaza. Initially, they were transported to Jordan for first aid before being flown to Switzerland by aircraft operated by the Swiss Air Force and the Swiss Air Rescue Service (RIGA). The statement further clarified that the children and their family members will be placed in various Swiss regions to receive specialized medical care at university and cantonal hospitals, tailored to the specific needs of each child. The Swiss government h as assured that these children will be provided with temporary residence and legal protection throughout their treatment and rehabilitation process. Authorities highlighted that this initiative marks the first phase of a larger humanitarian program. Switzerland aims to receive around 20 children from Gaza who have been injured in the conflict, demonstrating its commitment to providing humanitarian and medical support to those severely impacted by the war.
