Amman: The United Nations Security Council, which on Wednesday unanimously adopted a one-year extension of UNIFIL's mandate, urged all relevant actors to implement immediate de-escalation measures, UNIFIL said. It called on the parties concerned to recommit to the full implementation of all provisions of resolution 1701, emphasizing its strong support for the full respect of the Blue Line and the full cessation of hostilities. "The new Security Council resolution condemned the incidents affecting UNIFIL troops and posts, including the injury of several peacekeepers, urging all parties to take all necessary measures to respect the safety and security of UNIFIL personnel and posts and to allow UNIFIL to carry out the tasks set out in resolution 1701," UNIFIL noted.
