Secretary-General Stresses Urgency at Conference on Two-State Solution

New York: Secretary-General highlighted the importance of actionable outcomes at the High-Level International Conference for the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution held today. The conference, organized by the Governments of France and Saudi Arabia, aims to address the longstanding Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

According to EMM, the Secretary-General emphasized the historical endurance of the conflict, which has consistently challenged diplomatic efforts and international law. He pointed out the recent Knesset declaration supporting the annexation of the Occupied West Bank, describing such actions as illegal and urging an immediate halt. The Secretary-General expressed that the ongoing destruction in Gaza must cease and unilateral actions undermining the two-State solution are unacceptable.

The conference is viewed as a critical opportunity to advance the two-State solution, the only framework rooted in international law and supported by the international community. The Secretary-General stressed that the solution involves Israel and Palestine coexisting peacefully within secure and recognized borders, based on pre-1967 lines, and with Jerusalem as the capital of both states.

The Secretary-General urged all parties involved to make difficult decisions and demonstrate bold leadership to achieve a just and lasting peace between Israelis and Palestinians. He called on the international community to support this effort, emphasizing the conference's potential to be a decisive turning point in realizing a viable two-State solution.
