Gaza: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia affirmed its commitment to achieving a just and comprehensive peace that paves the way for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state. This declaration was made during the second high-level ministerial meeting of the Donors Group for Palestine held in Brussels.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, Saudi Arabia's Minister Plenipotentiary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Manal Radwan, highlighted the ongoing critical humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, nine months after a ceasefire was implemented. Radwan emphasized that the situation remains dire due to Israel's continued military occupation of nearly 70 percent of the enclave, alongside severe restrictions that hinder humanitarian aid, recovery efforts, and the normalization of civilian life.
Radwan also addressed the increased construction of Israeli settlements, violence by colonists, and unilateral actions in the occupied West Bank. She stressed that these developments illustrate a crisis that extends beyond humanitarian concerns and requires a political solution.
Saudi Arabia expressed appreciation for the international community's political support for UNRWA, underscoring the necessity of translating this support into lasting financial commitments to maintain the Agency's services to millions of Palestine refugees. Radwan reaffirmed the Kingdom's dedication to supporting the Palestinian government politically, economically, and diplomatically, while collaborating with regional and international partners to achieve a lasting peace based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as the capital of an independent Palestinian state.
