Amman: The Minister of Planning and International Cooperation and Acting Minister of Finance, Estephan Salameh, on Monday received a $90 million tranche of a Saudi grant to the State of Palestine, as part of the Kingdom's continued support for 2025.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the tranche was handed over at the headquarters of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the Jordanian capital, Amman. The handover took place during a meeting between Minister Salameh and the Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Jordan and non-resident envoy to Palestine, Prince Mansour bin Khalid bin Farhan Al Saud.
Salameh praised the Kingdom's ongoing financial and political support, emphasizing the importance of this contribution in alleviating the financial crisis facing the State of Palestine in light of recent Israeli policies. He expressed deep appreciation for the Kingdom's historic and steadfast position toward the Palestinian people.
He also acknowledged Saudi Arabia's consistent historic stance toward Palestine, its support for Palestinian legitimate rights, and the establishment of an independent state. Salameh conveyed the greetings of President Mahmoud Abbas and Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, in appreciation of their enduring political, economic, and humanitarian support.
For his part, Prince Mansour bin Khalid affirmed the Kingdom's firm, historic, and continued commitment to supporting the Palestinian people and their legitimate rights to establish an independent state. He highlighted the political efforts recently undertaken by the Kingdom, as co-chair with France of the high-level international conference in New York in support of the Palestinian cause and the implementation of the two-state solution. He noted the outcomes achieved, including broad international recognition of the Palestinian state and the two-state solution.
The Saudi ambassador explained that this support comes within the framework of the Kingdom's leadership's commitment to back the Palestinian government and enable it to meet its financial obligations. He underscored the importance of these grants in strengthening the resilience of the Palestinian people and easing their suffering in the face of economic and humanitarian challenges, as well as supporting vital sectors, particularly health and education. This support is part of the Kingdom's sustained economic, developmental, relief, and humanitarian assistance to the State of Palestine.
