Post: Prisoners’ Group Reports Detention of 20 Palestinians by Israeli Forces, Including Five Women and Journalist

Ramallah: Israeli occupation forces have detained at least 20 Palestinians from across the West Bank, including Jerusalem, since Tuesday evening and into Wednesday morning. The Palestinian Prisoners' Society reported that among those detained are five women and a journalist.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the women include Jamila Abu Dahou and Jamila Kanaan from Ramallah, released prisoner Mayser Al-Faqih, Faten Hanaysha from Nablus, and Ataf Badr from Hebron. Journalist Hassan Abdul Jawad from Bethlehem is also among the detainees. The organization highlighted that Israeli forces are intensifying arrest campaigns and field interrogations, allegedly as a policy of collective punishment and retaliation.

The Palestinian Prisoners' Society further noted that women are being increasingly targeted in these ongoing arrest campaigns. Tactics reportedly include using women as hostages, conducting nighttime home raids, and employing harsh interrogation methods. Arrests over alleged 'incitement' on social media are also noted, with the number of female prisoners rising to 99.

The organization also pointed out an increase in detained journalists, now totaling 42, with two reportedly held under enforced disappearance. The group claims that more than 24,000 arrests have occurred since the escalation began, with campaigns targeting women, children, and former prisoners continuing across the West Bank.
