Prime Minister Mustafa Meets UN Representatives to Coordinate Gaza Relief Efforts

Ramallah: Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa met with UN representatives to coordinate relief efforts in the Gaza Strip. The meeting aimed to enhance collaboration between the Palestinian government and international organizations to address the ongoing humanitarian crisis in the region.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, Prime Minister Mustafa engaged with key figures in the international community, including Sigrid Kaag, the Senior Humanitarian and Reconstruction Coordinator for Gaza, and Muhannad Hadi, the Humanitarian Coordinator for the Occupied Palestinian Territory. The discussions also involved Ambassador Alexandre Stutzmann, the European Union Representative to the West Bank and Gaza Strip, UNRWA, and Stefan Emblad, the World Bank's Country Director for the region, to strategize on relief, humanitarian, and reconstruction initiatives in Gaza.

The meeting was attended by Palestine's International Cooperation and Planning Minister, Wael Zakout, and Minister of Social Development, Samah Hamad. Premier Mustafa emphasized the crucial role of international support in bolstering the government's efforts, alongside field staff, to address the humanitarian needs in Gaza. He highlighted the significance of the newly established Government Operations Room for Emergency Interventions in Gaza, which aims to streamline efforts towards alleviating the population's suffering, restoring basic services, boosting economic recovery, and assessing damage for future reconstruction.

Prime Minister Mustafa acknowledged the ongoing initiatives to execute the Relief, Early Recovery, and Emergency Response Plan for Gaza. Additionally, he mentioned the ongoing discussions for organizing an international donor conference for Gaza's reconstruction, in collaboration with donor countries and relevant UN institutions. An investment conference is also being considered to support the recovery of the Palestinian private sector and stimulate production, moving beyond mere reliance on relief efforts.
