Ramallah: Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa has directed efforts to provide shelter and humanitarian aid for the Palestinian people forcibly displaced by the Israeli occupation from their homes in the northern West Bank, particularly in the refugee camps of Jenin, Tulkarm, and Nur Shams.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency – WAFA, Mustafa emphasized the need for governors and emergency committees in the affected governorates, in coordination with the Refugee Affairs Department of the PLO and popular committees in the camps, to establish shelters for families who lack temporary housing until Israeli forces withdraw from the targeted areas. At the same time, plans and resources must be prepared for the reconstruction of what has been destroyed by the Israeli occupation’s aggression and to strengthen the steadfastness of the Palestinian people.
This came during the Prime Minister’s meeting, held today, with the Minister of Local Government Sami Hajawi, Minister of Social Development and Relief Samah Hamad, and the Prime Minister’s Advisor for Arab Funds Nasser Qatami, to discuss urgent Government interventions in cities, towns, villages, and refugee camps in the northern West Bank, particularly in relief and shelter areas.
The Prime Minister and officials underscored the importance of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) fulfilling its responsibilities towards Palestinian refugees in the camps, calling on the international community to pressure Israel to allow UNRWA to carry out its mandated duties.
Meanwhile, the Ministerial Committee for Emergency Action and its technical subcommittee discussed today the provision of urgent needs for affected Palestinians amid the ongoing Israeli occupation’s aggression, particularly in the northern West Bank camps.
These efforts included dispatching 16 aid trucks over the past two weeks, carrying food supplies, hygiene kits, baby essentials, mattresses, and blankets, with further shipments in preparation. Additionally, the committee allocated financial resources to establish shelters under the supervision of governors and partner organizations.
It is worth noting that the Ministerial Committee for Emergency Action has implemented and continues to carry out several interventions in areas targeted by the Israeli occupation. These efforts include infrastructure repairs, temporary shelter provisions, and other actions, with a total cost exceeding 28 million shekels from the Palestinian general budget in less than three months, in addition to funds provided by Arab and Islamic financial institutions and contributions from community organizations, international and relief agencies.
