Ramallah: Prime Minister Mohammed Mustafa has directed all public institutions to enhance their preparedness and readiness in response to emergency developments. This directive, aligned with President Mahmoud Abbas' orders, aims to ensure the continuity of essential services, uphold security and stability, and maintain the rule of law across the nation.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the announcement came after Prime Minister Mustafa chaired a government emergency cell meeting, which was attended by ministers and heads of key sectors. The meeting resulted in several key measures and directives to address the current situation.
One of the primary measures includes the activation of emergency committees within the governorates, overseen by the governors. Additionally, the Ministry of Interior and its agencies have been instructed to enhance their readiness to respond to field developments effectively. Civil Affairs and Military Liaison efforts will continue to facilitate the movement of citizens, goods transport, and institutional operations.
The Petroleum Authority has been directed to coordinate fuel and gas station operations to ensure the needs of vital sectors are met. Furthermore, a strategic stockpile of food and essential goods sufficient for six months will be maintained, with strict monitoring to prevent price manipulation.
In the education sector, the Ministry of Education will transition to online learning for Sunday and Monday, with further instructions to be provided based on developments. Health services are on maximum alert, with hospitals and medical centers securing emergency department supplies for three months while coordinating with partner medical institutions for an integrated response.
Public sector employees are instructed to report to the nearest government institution to their residence to maintain essential services and respond promptly to emergencies. This measure aims to ensure the safety of employees and protect citizens from potential risks.
Authorities are urging citizens to follow official instructions, limit movement, avoid gatherings, and refrain from spreading rumors or panic buying. They are also encouraged to report market exploitation via the consumer protection hotline (129), with assurances that competent authorities will address any exploitation attempts firmly.
In emergencies, citizens are advised to promptly report incidents to the Civil Defense (102), Police (100), Red Crescent (101), and Military Liaison (163) to strengthen coordination between citizens and relevant authorities.
