Post: President Abbas Praises New York Declaration, Calls It a ‘Historic Step Towards Achieving Peace’

Ramallah: President Mahmoud Abbas expressed his high appreciation and welcome for the New York Declaration issued by the Foreign Ministers of Andorra, Australia, Canada, Finland, France, Iceland, Ireland, Luxembourg, Malta, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, San Marino, Slovenia, and Spain, which affirmed their recognition of the State of Palestine, and their call on the states that have not yet recognized the State of Palestine to do so.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, President Abbas praised the positions of these states, which affirmed their commitment to the vision of a two-state solution and to peace based on international law and relevant UN resolutions. He reiterated his commitment to the pledges he made to implement this.

The President affirmed that the recognition of the State of Palestine by these states, or their declaration of their willingness to recognize the State of Palestine, represents a step toward achieving a just and comprehensive peace and strengthens international efforts to end the Israeli occupation and establish an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.

President Abbas called on other countries to join this call and contribute to advancing the political process based on the two-state solution, ensuring security and stability for all peoples of the region.
