President Abbas Discusses Peace Efforts with French President Macron

Ramallah: President of the State of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas received a phone call from French President Emmanuel Macron. During the call, the two Presidents discussed the latest developments in the Palestinian territories, stressing the rejection of the displacement of the Palestinian people from their land, providing urgent humanitarian aid, consolidating the ceasefire, and the Palestinian Authority assuming responsibility in the Gaza Strip. They also talked about reconstruction efforts, moving towards implementing the two-state solution based on international legitimacy, and holding the international peace conference next June.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, President Abbas thanked President Macron for France's position in rejecting displacement and advocating for a ceasefire, as well as consolidating the Palestinians on their land. He appreciated France's involvement with Saudi Arabia in organizing the international peace conference and emphasized the importance of international recognition and the State of Palestine obtaining full membership in the United Nations.

President Abbas also expressed gratitude for the humanitarian aid provided by France and its support for Palestinian national institutions and UNRWA. He reiterated his absolute rejection of any calls or plans aimed at displacing the Palestinian people from their homeland, including areas such as the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, and East Jerusalem, which violate international legitimacy resolutions and international law. He stressed that the Palestinian people will remain on their land in Jerusalem, the Gaza Strip, and the West Bank.

Furthermore, President Abbas highlighted the need to cease settlement expansion, annexation plans, and attacks on holy sites that undermine the two-state solution and opportunities for peace, security, and stability in the region. He also briefed President Macron on the preparations for the upcoming emergency Arab summit in Cairo, which aims to present a joint Arab vision for rebuilding the Gaza Strip and emphasizing the Arab vision for peace based on international legitimacy resolutions, international law, and the Arab Peace Initiative.
