Ramallah: President Mahmoud Abbas issued a presidential decree today, promoting Major-General Mohammad Khalil Ibrahim al-Khatib, also known as Nidal Shaheen, to the rank of Major General. Shaheen has been appointed as the new head of the Palestinian Military Intelligence Directorate, succeeding Major General Zakaria Musleh, whose service has been concluded.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the decision marks a significant change in the leadership of the Palestinian Military Intelligence. The decree elevates Shaheen to a prominent position within the Palestinian Authority's security framework, entrusting him with overseeing intelligence operations. Major General Zakaria Musleh, the former head, has completed his term, paving the way for Shaheen's leadership.
