Presidency Spokesperson Rejects Israel’s Decision to Halt UNRWA’s Work

Ramallah: The official spokesman for the Palestinian presidency, Nabil Abu Rudeineh, stated that the decision by Israeli occupation authorities to cease the operations of "UNRWA" is rejected and condemned. He emphasized that this move provokes the Palestinian people and contradicts the United Nations resolutions under which the agency was established.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, Abu Rudeineh, in a press statement, indicated that the Israeli decision challenges international legitimacy and will likely increase escalation and tension in the region due to its effects on services provided to approximately 6 million Palestinian refugees in camps. He stressed that the Israeli government bears full responsibility for the significant repercussions of this decision.

Abu Rudeineh urged the United Nations to fulfill its responsibilities under international law by compelling the occupying state to reverse the decision and ensure "UNRWA" continues its services to Palestinian refugees until their issue is resolved according to international legitimacy resolutions.

He further stated that ongoing Israeli efforts to undermine "UNRWA" aim to dissolve the refugee issue and eradicate the right of return. He emphasized that the refugee issue is a non-negotiable matter for the Palestinian people and leadership, and it remains a key objective in any future political settlement.
