PM Mustafa Discusses Gaza Reconstruction Coordination with Japanese Official

Ramallah: Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa met with Takeshi Okubo, Japanese Special Assistant to the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Ambassador in charge of Gaza Rebuilding Assistance, in his office in Ramallah. The discussion focused on enhancing cooperation, coordinating efforts, and advancing joint action to implement the recovery and reconstruction plan for the Gaza Strip and its executive programs.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the meeting was attended by Minister of Social Development Samah Hamad, Deputy Minister Of Foreign Affairs For Political Affairs Omar Awadallah, and Japan's Ambassador to Palestine Araiki Katsuhiko. Prime Minister Mustafa emphasized the importance of adhering to the Arab recovery and reconstruction plan, which has received support at the Islamic level, as well as from European and broader international communities, through the New York Declaration. He highlighted the necessity for genuine coordination with the State of Palestine and its institutions, respecting the State's mandate over the Gaza Strip.

Prime Minister Mustafa reiterated that the official institutions of the State of Palestine are indispensable in the Gaza Strip, and any progress must align with the political framework of a two-state solution. This includes achieving an independent Palestinian state governed under one system, one government, one law, and a single legitimate authority over arms.

During the meeting, Mustafa also addressed the ongoing challenges in the West Bank, such as the incursions by the occupation army and colonists, and the continued suspension of Palestinian tax revenue transfers for the seventh month in a row. He expressed appreciation for Japan's unwavering support for Palestine and its people. Mustafa noted that the appointment of an assistant foreign minister for Gaza reconstruction by Japan conveys a significant message amid the current challenges facing the Palestinian cause.

The Prime Minister assured that all necessary facilitation would be provided to ensure the success of Takeshi Okubo's mission in Gaza reconstruction efforts.
