Ramallah: Based on President Mahmoud Abbas' directives, Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa has instructed all relevant authorities to intensify efforts to address the needs of Palestinian citizens, particularly in Tubas Governorate, which has recently experienced ongoing Israeli aggression.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, during its weekly session, the Cabinet reviewed the plans and programs of the Government Operations Room in the Gaza Strip. Two new shelter centers have been inaugurated in Deir al-Balah, with additional centers under development in Jabalia and Khan Younis. Field teams are focusing on areas at risk of flooding from rainwater, and the Water Authority, in coordination with local partners, is working to drain the Sheikh Radwan pond to safeguard displaced families.
In the education sector, the establishment of more than 30 new field learning sites in the Gaza Strip has increased the total to approximately 359 sites, serving around 170,000 students. Efforts are underway to expand the number to 500 sites, while online education continues for approximately 120,000 students, supported by nearly 3,000 remote teachers from the West Bank.
The Cabinet also commended global condemnation of escalating attacks by terrorist colonial settler militias and called for decisive international action to halt these crimes, including de facto annexation practices and Israel's continued withholding of Palestinian clearance revenues.
Furthermore, the Cabinet approved holding local council elections on 25 April 2026, in accordance with Article (72) of Decree-Law No. (23) of 2025. Local councils whose terms end before the elections will be considered committees, and a Caretaker Committee has been appointed for the Nazlat 'Isa Village Council in Tulkarm.
Additionally, the Cabinet authorized the allocation of land for Janata Hospital construction in Bethlehem and approved amendments to regulations governing groundwater wells. The Hebron Rehabilitation Committee was congratulated for winning the World Habitat Award, highlighting its achievements in housing solutions amid challenges in Hebron's Old City.
On the eve of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the Cabinet reaffirmed the fundamental rights of persons with disabilities and the Government's commitment to empowering them, especially given the war on Gaza and military incursions in the West Bank.
