PM Mustafa Advocates for End to Israeli Occupation in Meeting with German FM

Ramallah: Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa emphasized the necessity of ending the Israeli occupation and fulfilling Palestinian rights as essential steps towards achieving peace and stability in the region.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, Prime Minister Mustafa made these remarks during a meeting with German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul in Ramallah. The meeting was attended by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Varsen Shaheen and German Representative to Palestine Oliver Owcza. The Prime Minister highlighted the urgency to halt Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip, alleviate the suffering of Palestinians, and initiate reconstruction efforts.

Prime Minister Mustafa reiterated the Palestinian Government's commitment to peaceful and diplomatic solutions to attain the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people. He stressed the importance of Germany's involvement in the upcoming Peace Conference in New York, aimed at implementing the two-State solution and advancing the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.

The Prime Minister expressed gratitude for Germany's continuous support, both directly and through the European Union, in significant sectors in Palestine. He lauded Germany's humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip and its advocacy for an immediate ceasefire. Mustafa conveyed President Mahmoud Abbas's greetings to the German Chancellor and the new government, expressing hopes for their success. He noted the significance of the visit, emphasizing its reflection of the international community's growing acknowledgment of the Palestinian cause.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Mustafa updated the delegation on the recent developments in the occupied West Bank, particularly the increasing aggression by Israeli forces and settler attacks. He called for heightened international pressure to stop the violence, destruction, and displacement faced by Palestinians. Mustafa also highlighted the Government's reform agenda aimed at enhancing public services for Palestinian citizens.

German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul affirmed Germany's unwavering support for the two-State solution and Gaza's reconstruction efforts. He expressed backing for the Palestinian Government's reform initiatives and proposed convening the German-Palestinian Joint Governmental Committee to strengthen bilateral cooperation.
