Tammoun: Shaher Saad, Secretary General of the Palestinian General Federation of Trade Unions, has issued a strong condemnation of what he described as a crime committed by Israeli occupation forces against worker Ali Khaled Sayel Bani Odeh and his family in the town of Tammoun.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, Saad, in a press statement on Sunday, declared the incident a fully-fledged crime, targeting an entire civilian family without any justification. Bani Odeh, employed in the construction sector within the 1948 territories, had returned to his home and taken his family on a trip to Nablus to purchase supplies for Eid al-Fitr following a period of separation due to work commitments. During their journey, Israeli forces allegedly ambushed the family's vehicle, resulting in the death of four out of the six family members.
Saad called for action from international bodies, urging the International Labour Organization (ILO), the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC), the Building and Wood Workers' International (BWI), and both international and Arab trade unions to expose such incidents. He emphasized the need for these organizations to take meaningful actions to hold Israel accountable for its alleged violations against the Palestinian people, particularly workers, and to pursue accountability in international forums.
