Palestinian Sustains Injury from Israeli Gunfire in Central Gaza Strip

Gaza Strip: A Palestinian civilian Tuesday sustained an injury from Israeli army gunfire to the east of al-Bureij refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip. According to local sources, the occupation forces stationed to the east of the refugee camp opened gunfire towards a young man, injuring him. The casualty was subsequently rushed to a hospital for treatment.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, this incident came a day after the occupation forces released 90 Palestinian prisoners as part of the Gaza ceasefire, which went into effect on Sunday and marked the end of Israel's aggression on the Strip. Despite the ceasefire, tensions remain high as Israel's offensive continued in defiance of the International Court of Justice (ICJ), which had issued a legally binding decision for Israel to halt its military actions in Rafah, potentially violating the Genocide Convention.

The conflict has left at least 10,000 people unaccounted for, presumed dead under the rubble of their homes throughout the Strip. Palestinian and international organizations report that the majority of those killed and wounded are women and children, highlighting the severe human cost of the aggression.

Additionally, the Israeli actions have led to the forceful displacement of nearly two million people across the Gaza Strip. Most of these displaced individuals have been forced into the densely populated southern city of Rafah, near the border with Egypt, marking Palestine's largest mass exodus since the 1948 Nakba.
