Gaza: The Palestinian sports community today mourned the Israeli occupation killing of two soccer players in the Gaza Strip. Soccer players Moath Alaa Al-Hawajri of Al-Nuseirat Club was killed while waiting for humanitarian aid in the Al-Nuseirat area in central Gaza, and Nasrallah Al-Maqati'ah of Deir al-Balah Club was targeted by Israeli occupation forces.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the Football Association highlighted that with this painful loss, the number of soccer players and others from the Palestinian football community killed since the start of the aggression on October 7, 2023, has risen to 325. This includes players, coaches, administrators, referees, and members of club boards, reflecting the extent of the systematic targeting of Palestinian sports and its pillars.
The incident has cast a shadow over the sports community in Palestine, which has been grappling with the impact of ongoing conflicts. The deaths of Al-Hawajri and Al-Maqati'ah underscore the risks faced by athletes and sports personnel in the region, further deepening the sense of loss and mourning within the community.
