Post: Palestinian Prisoner’s Society Condemns Israeli Authorities for Systematic Torture and Abuse of Detainees

Gaza: The Palestinian Prisoner's Society announced that Israel's detention system perpetuates a systematic policy of documenting and releasing images and videos of torture and abuse against Palestinian prisoners. The organization condemned this practice as a blatant expression of brutality and public humiliation.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency, the Israeli authorities have been releasing photos and video clips that depict severe repression and grave violations against detainees. These acts of systematic humiliation are considered crimes against humanity by the Society. A recent image of a detainee from the Gaza Strip, appearing naked and restrained, was highlighted as part of this ongoing pattern of violations.

The Society claims that Israeli soldiers are often the primary source of the recorded material documenting the abuse of prisoners. While Israeli officials attempt to portray these incidents as isolated events, field data and testimonies from prisoners suggest that such actions are part of an institutional policy embedded within multiple levels of the Israeli system.

Additionally, the statement criticized the publication of videos by hard-right Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, arguing that they contribute to normalizing these abusive practices. This, according to the Society, fosters a culture of impunity by encouraging the public dissemination of alleged abuse.

The Palestinian Prisoner's Society has renewed its call for the international community and human rights organizations to assume their legal and moral responsibilities. They urge immediate action to end what they describe as a policy of impunity that enables ongoing violations, particularly against Palestinian prisoners.
