Palestinian Prisoner Begins 23rd Year Behind Bars for Resisting the Occupation

Jenin: A Palestinian prisoner in Israel began today his 23rd year behind bars for resisting the occupation, according to the Palestinian Prisoner's Society (PPS).

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, PPS reported that Mahmoud Yousif Asfour, aged 46 and hailing from Jenin, has completed 22 years of incarceration and has now entered his 23rd year. The Director of PPS in Jenin, Muntasir Samour, revealed that Asfour was detained on February 11, 2003, and was subsequently sentenced to 25 years in prison.

In a poignant detail, it was noted that Asfour's father passed away five years ago, and the occupation authorities prevented him from saying his final farewell to his father.
