Ramallah: The Palestinian Presidency welcomed the Global Governance Initiative proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping during the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit held earlier this month.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the initiative is based on five principles: sovereign equality, adherence to international law, commitment to multilateralism, placing people at the center, and achieving tangible outcomes.
In a statement, the Presidency said the initiative continues China's positions and aligns with the partnership launched by President Mahmoud Abbas and President Xi Jinping during their meeting in Beijing.
The Presidency also welcomed China's endorsement of the New York Declaration Backing the Two-State Solution, saying it reflects Beijing's stance on the Palestinian cause and support for Palestine's efforts to gain full membership in the United Nations.
The Presidency expressed appreciation for ties and partnership between the two nations, and conveyed the gratitude of President Abbas and the Palestinian leadership for China's support for the rights of the Palestinian people and its role in advocating for them across international platforms.
