Ramallah: The official spokesman for the Palestinian presidency, Nabil Abu Rudeineh, announced the firm rejection of displacement and alternative homeland projects. He emphasized the importance of achieving a just peace based on international legitimacy and the Arab Peace Initiative to counteract the instability and chaos in the region.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, Abu Rudeineh asserted that the Palestinian people, who have endured the tragedies of 1948 and 1967, will not accept these proposals. He highlighted the resilience of Palestinians returning to their homes in northern Gaza despite destruction, underscoring their determination to remain on their land. He stressed that the only solution ensuring security and stability is the recognition of Palestinian rights, ending the occupation, and establishing an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital, while maintaining the unity of Palestinian lands in Gaza, the West Bank, and East Jerusalem, and preserving holy sites.
The spokesperson confirmed President Mahmoud Abbas's steadfast stance since the onset of aggression against Palestinians, advocating for the cessation of hostilities, prevention of displacement, and protection of Gaza. Abu Rudeineh noted ongoing coordination with Egypt and Jordan, along with support from various Arab and international entities, to uphold the Palestinian position and prevent displacement.
He concluded by emphasizing the need to sustain the ceasefire, ensure the withdrawal of Israeli forces, enable the Palestine Liberation Organization to assume responsibilities in Gaza, and focus on peace and statehood. He urged the new US administration to back solutions fostering lasting peace and stability in the region and globally.
