Ramallah: The Palestinian Presidency has condemned the ongoing Israeli construction of the Morag corridor, which aims to separate Rafah City from the rest of the Gaza Strip. This move is seen as an attempt to establish permanent control over the region and divide it into isolated enclaves, thereby preparing for potential displacement. The Presidency stated that such actions violate all international legitimacy resolutions and international law, asserting that the Gaza Strip remains an intrinsic part of the Palestinian territory occupied since 1967.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the Presidency has criticized these Israeli plans, which it believes reveal the occupation's intentions to extend its aggression against Palestinian people and land. The Presidency argues that these efforts are aimed at expanding settlement policies and expropriating Palestinian territories.
The Presidency has emphasized the need to halt Israeli attacks in the West Bank, particularly against northern West Bank cities, villages, and camps. It highlighted that for 78 days, Israeli forces have continued their aggression against the Jenin Governorate and its camp, and for 72 days, similar actions have occurred in the Tulkarm Governorate and other West Bank camps. These actions include policies of mass killings, arrests, and demolitions of homes and infrastructure in Palestinian cities.
Furthermore, the Presidency has urged the United States to pressure the occupying state to cease its aggression, allow humanitarian aid to alleviate famine, and fully withdraw from the Gaza Strip. This would enable the State of Palestine to take full responsibility for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip.
The Presidency also called on Hamas to take responsibility and align with the official Palestinian position and Arab initiatives. It urged Hamas to avoid decisions that could exacerbate the situation and to prevent providing Israel with excuses to continue its military actions, such as the hostage issue. The Presidency noted that Israel uses such issues to justify further violence, including the recent killing of Palestinian Red Crescent paramedics.
