Post: Palestinian NGOs Network Calls for International Protection Amid Escalating Israeli Violations

Ramallah:The Palestinian NGOs Network has issued a stark warning regarding escalating attacks and violations by Israeli occupation forces and colonists against the Palestinian people. These actions are reportedly threatening civilians' lives and targeting the foundations of their resilience and continued presence on their land.

According to Palestine news & Information Agency – WAFA – English, the network has called for urgent international action to protect Palestinians and to hold accountable those responsible for these violations. In a statement issued on Thursday, the organization emphasized that the ongoing attacks on Palestinians, their property, and their livelihoods require a shift from mere condemnation to practical steps ensuring the protection of the Palestinian people and respect for their fundamental rights.

The network also expressed concern over attacks and threats targeting international solidarity activists, delegations, human rights figures, and humanitarian and human rights institutions. It highlighted the seriousness of targeting these individuals and emphasized the need for their protection and the respect of international rules to enable them to carry out their work freely and safely.

Additionally, the network noted that the continuous violations against Palestinians and the risks facing international delegations and missions in the occupied Palestinian territory highlight the urgent need for serious and effective international measures. These measures are necessary to protect civilians, safeguard diplomatic missions, and strengthen accountability to end impunity.

The network has called on the High Contracting Parties to the Geneva Conventions, specifically the Fourth Geneva Convention, to convene an urgent meeting to address Israel's ongoing violations against the Palestinian people. Furthermore, it urged the United Nations and the international community to act immediately to provide international protection for Palestinians, halt attacks against civilians, and ensure the safety of international solidarity activists and institutions.

The organization called for the activation of independent international mechanisms to monitor and document violations and for an enhanced international presence in vulnerable areas. This would help protect civilians and curb violations, ensuring accountability under international law. The network stressed that protecting the Palestinian people is a legal and moral responsibility of the international community and that international protection requires serious and responsible action to translate commitments into concrete measures on the ground.
