Ramallah: The Palestinian national football team has successfully qualified for the Arab Cup after a tense 4-3 victory in a penalty shootout against Libya. The match, which concluded in a goalless draw after regular time, took place on Tuesday evening and saw Palestine emerge victorious in the decisive penalty shootout.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the Palestinian team showcased a strong performance throughout the match, particularly in the first half, where they created several scoring opportunities but were unable to convert them into goals. The deadlock persisted throughout regular time, leading to a penalty shootout to determine the winner. Goalkeeper Rami Hamadeh was instrumental in the shootout, delivering an impressive performance that secured Palestine's qualification.
With this victory, Palestine has been placed in Group A of the Arab Cup, joining host nation Qatar, Tunisia, and Syria, the latter having defeated South Sudan 2-0 earlier on Tuesday. The Palestinian national team is set to kick off their Arab Cup campaign on December 1, with their opening match against host Qatar.
