Paris: An official delegation from the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, led by Deputy Minister Dr. Nafieh Assaf, visited UNESCO to engage in technical discussions aimed at advancing the Palestinian curriculum. The focus was on aligning the curriculum with Palestinian values, national priorities, and global developments.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the discussions took place during a two-day workshop at UNESCO's headquarters in Paris. The Ministry's delegation and UNESCO experts identified strategic priorities for curriculum development, emphasizing the enhancement of national capacities in curriculum design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation.

This initiative is part of a broader technical support program that utilizes UNESCO's expertise in educational development. The Ministry's commitment to improving Palestinian education quality is reflected in the curriculum development initiative, which seeks to foster critical and creative thinking, strengthen scientific research, and develop life skills. The initiative also aims to align curriculum content, textbook design, and student assessment systems.

A joint framework for action was established, including a series of forthcoming training workshops tailored for Palestinian curriculum developers. The discussions also considered long-term support for updating teacher training content and competency frameworks, highlighting the crucial role of teachers in enhancing learning experiences.

Additionally, the Ministry and UNESCO discussed commitments to support the Palestinian education system through initiatives like the Gaza Virtual University Campus and by providing temporary learning spaces, scholarships, and mental health support for Palestinian children and youth.
