Palestinian Injured After Colonists Assault Him in Masafer Yatta

Masafer yatta: A Palestinian man was injured on Sunday morning after being assaulted by colonists in the village of Umm al-Khair, located in Masafer Yatta, south of Hebron, according to local sources. The incident highlights ongoing tensions in the region.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, anti-settlement activist Osama Makhmara reported that Ahmad Shuaib al-Hathalin was beaten by armed colonists from the colonies of Karmiel and the outpost of Shim'on. The assault occurred under the protection of Israeli occupation forces. Al-Hathalin sustained bruises and head injuries and was transferred to Yatta Governmental Hospital for treatment, where his condition was described as moderate.

In addition to the assault on al-Hathalin, colonists also attacked residents from the al-Hathalin family who confronted them after they released their livestock near Palestinian homes in the same village. No additional injuries were reported during this confrontation.

Masafer Yatta, a cluster of rural communities south of Hebron, has been a frequent target of attacks by Israeli colonists and military. The area faces ongoing threats of displacement after Israel declared large parts of it a 'firing zone' for military training. Residents continue to face movement restrictions, home demolitions, and repeated assaults by colonists seeking to expand nearby colonies.
