Palestinian Foreign Minister Engages in EU-Mediterranean Countries Meeting

Brussels: Palestinian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Fares Aghabakian, participated on Monday in a joint meeting of the foreign ministers of the European Union and the Mediterranean neighboring countries. The meeting was chaired by EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaya Kallas.

According to Union of OIC News Agencies, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a statement highlighting that the meeting aims to launch a new charter for regional cooperation in the Mediterranean region. The initiative seeks to strengthen the partnership between the countries of the Southern and Eastern Mediterranean and the EU member states, focusing on areas such as the environment, economy, and business. The overarching goal is to enhance security, peace, and sustainable development in the region.

The meeting also included the participation of several foreign ministers from Arab countries bordering the Mediterranean, along with member states of the Union for the Mediterranean. In a related development, the Foreign Ministers political advisor, Ambassador Ahmed Al-Deek, addressed rumors regarding potential meetings with the foreign minister of the occupying state. He clarified that such meetings were not on the agenda during the Foreign Minister's visit to Brussels and urged media and social media users to rely on official sources for accurate information.
