Jerusalem: Israeli occupation authorities today forced a Palestinian citizen to demolish his own home in the Dahyat al-Salam neighborhood, east of occupied Jerusalem. The Jerusalem Governorate reported that the Israeli municipality compelled Mohammad Karshan to carry out the demolition himself under the pretext of lacking a building permit.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, Israeli authorities routinely force Palestinians, particularly in occupied Jerusalem, to self-demolish their homes under the guise of unlicensed construction. Those who refuse to comply with the orders face demolition by Israeli bulldozers and are subsequently billed exorbitant fees for the costs incurred during the demolition.
