Post: Palestinian Central Council’s 32nd Session Highlights National Priorities Amid Escalating Tensions

Ramallah: Chaired by President Mahmoud Abbas, the 32nd session of the Palestinian Central Council commenced in Ramallah, focusing on critical national priorities amidst grave challenges. President Abbas, addressing the council, highlighted the severe threats to the Palestinian cause, likening them to a new Nakba, which jeopardizes the existence of the Palestinian people and their national aspirations.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, President Abbas emphasized the importance of halting the Israeli military actions in Gaza, the West Bank, and Jerusalem, calling for the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces and an end to violations against holy sites. The President expressed that the ongoing aggression aims to undermine the Palestinian national cause and impose colonial policies.

In his speech, President Abbas detailed the dire situation in Jerusalem, describing it as a city under siege, with attempts to alter its historical and legal status. He accused Israel of acting above international law, reneging on agreements with the Palestine Liberation Organization, and engaging in financial and territorial seizures.

Abbas outlined a vision for peace, emphasizing the need for a political horizon based on ending the occupation and establishing a sovereign Palestinian state. He called for international recognition of Palestine and adherence to United Nations resolutions.

The President highlighted the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza, with substantial loss of life and destruction of infrastructure. He condemned the actions of Hamas in Gaza, urging them to relinquish control to the Palestinian National Authority to ensure unity and stability.

President Abbas reiterated the commitment to international cooperation and the need for a comprehensive peace process. He called for an international conference to address the conflict and urged the international community to take decisive action against the ongoing aggression.

The session underscored the Palestinian leadership's resolve to pursue diplomatic efforts to secure the rights and freedoms of the Palestinian people, maintain national unity, and ensure the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.
