Palestinian and Cypriot Presidents Discuss Developments in Palestinian Territories


Ramallah: Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides engaged in discussions regarding the latest developments in the Palestinian territories and the strong bilateral relations between their countries. The meeting took place at the presidential headquarters in Ramallah.

According to Union of OIC News Agencies, President Abbas provided President Christodoulides with updates on the Palestinian situation. The discussion included ongoing contacts with various parties, emphasizing the urgency of an immediate ceasefire, the release of detainees and prisoners, and the swift delivery of humanitarian and medical aid to the Gaza Strip. President Abbas highlighted the importance of the State of Palestine assuming civil and security responsibilities, ensuring that weapons remain under the control of the Palestinian Authority, and the complete withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces from the Gaza Strip to facilitate reconstruction without displacement.

In response, President Christodou
lides reaffirmed Cyprus’s consistent support for achieving peace and stability based on international legitimacy and law, particularly the two-state solution as a foundation for regional peace. He expressed Cyprus’s desire to further enhance the strong bilateral relations between the two nations and their people.
