Palestinian Ambassador Delivers President Abbas’s Letter to Vatican

Vatican city: The Ambassador of the State of Palestine to the Holy See, Issa Kassissieh, delivered a letter from President Mahmoud Abbas to Pope Leo XIV, expressing appreciation for the Pope's positions in advocating for an end to the war against the Palestinian people.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the letter also commemorates the 10th anniversary of the Comprehensive Agreement between the State of Palestine and the Holy See, concluded on June 24, 2015, which marked the Vatican's official recognition of the State of Palestine. Both parties reaffirmed their dedication to the agreement and committed to enhancing bilateral relations.

They consented to review certain provisions of the agreement, in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Higher Presidential Committee for Church Affairs, to support the Catholic Church in Palestine. The parties emphasized their pursuit of justice and peace in line with international legitimacy and UN resolutions, underscoring the importance of maintaining a Christian presence in the Holy Land.
