Ramallah: The State of Palestine welcomed the announcement of understandings reached between the United States and Iran, which include measures aimed at achieving a ceasefire, reducing regional tensions, reopening the Strait of Hormuz, and addressing outstanding issues through dialogue and diplomatic means.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency, the statement also commended efforts aimed at achieving a peaceful settlement in Lebanon that would preserve its security, stability, and sovereignty. Palestine expressed appreciation for the efforts of several Arab and international actors involved in facilitating the understandings, including Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Qatar, Trkiye, the United Nations, and other parties, noting that these efforts help avoid further regional conflict and enhance stability.
The statement emphasized that dialogue, diplomacy, and adherence to international law remain the only viable path to resolving regional crises and achieving sustainable peace. In this context, Palestine renewed its call for intensified international and regional efforts to end ongoing conflict and humanitarian suffering, including in Gaza, the West Bank, and East Jerusalem, and to advance a just and comprehensive peace in the Middle East.
The statement reiterated that such a settlement must lead to the end of the Israeli occupation of the State of Palestine and guarantee Palestinian rights to freedom and independence, including the establishment of an independent sovereign state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital. The statement concluded by expressing hope that the agreement would contribute to regional stability and revive political and diplomatic pathways toward peace, security, and development for all peoples of the region.
