OIC Strongly Denounces Statements of US President Trump Regarding Displacement of Palestinians

Jeddah: The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) condemned, on Wednesday, the statements of US President Donald Trump regarding his call to displace the Palestinian people outside the Gaza Strip, his support for the alleged Israeli sovereignty over the Palestinian land, and the suspension of funding for UNRWA.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the OIC stated that this contributes to the consolidation of the occupation, colonial settlement, and the seizure of Palestinian land by force, which constitutes a flagrant violation of the principles of international law and relevant United Nations resolutions, including Security Council Resolution No. 2334. The organization expressed concern that such actions would undermine the chances of peace and destabilize the region.

The OIC also expressed its rejection of any plans aimed at changing the geographical, demographic, or legal reality of the occupied Palestinian territory. They emphasized that the Gaza Strip is an integral part of the occupied State of Palestine and called for efforts to consolidate a comprehensive and sustainable ceasefire, complete withdrawal of the Israeli occupation, and support for Palestinian resilience. They stressed the importance of providing urgent relief, economic recovery, and reconstruction for the Gaza Strip, while ensuring accountability for crimes committed against the Palestinian people.

Furthermore, the organization reiterated its support for UNRWA and its crucial role, strongly opposing any attempts to undermine its existence or mandate. The OIC highlighted the importance of UNRWA as a humanitarian and relief priority, reflecting international commitment to the rights of Palestinian refugees and promoting regional stability.

The OIC affirmed its solidarity with the Palestinian people and support for their struggle within the framework of the Palestine Liberation Organization, the sole legitimate representative of the Palestinians, to restore their rights, including self-determination and sovereignty of an independent State of Palestine on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Finally, the OIC renewed its commitment to supporting international efforts aimed at achieving a just, lasting, and comprehensive peace in the region, leading to the end of the Israeli occupation and the implementation of the two-state solution based on international law, the United Nations Charter, relevant resolutions, and the Arab Peace Initiative.
